Awakening

Oh world won’t you wake,
Throwing of your snow-shroud
And rising from a cold grave,
The annual resurrection.

As the sheet is stripped,
Let the prairie lay lifeless
A moment, let green peep
Out of one sleepy eyelid,

And let the sudden burst
of life dress you in peridot
and flying, blushing petals –
Oh world, dance again.
